Mikijelj Jankovic & Bogdanovic (MJB) is a law office based in Belgrade, Serbia, with a network of correspondents throughout the region of the former Yugoslavia. Our focus is on business law, especially intellectual property law, although the firm still preserves its general practice.
Established in 1985, MJB has been proud to serve its clients with dedication for over 25 years. We cultivate a personalized approach towards the clients, regardless of their size, and persevere in providing them with the highest quality service.
The largest part of MJB’s practice is devoted to intellectual property matters. We assist our clients in the protection of trademarks, patents, models, designs, and domain names. Also, MJB has considerable experience in handling patent and trademark infringement cases, including customs measures. Equal attention is paid to copyright law, including protection of software. Our patent and trademark agents are licensed to represent clients before the Office for Protection of Intellectual Property of Serbia and European Patent Office. In addition to Serbia, MJB actively handles IP cases throughout the region (Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Kosovo and Macedonia), in cooperation with its local correspondents. We are contributors to World Trademark Review and Katzarov’s Manual on Industrial Property.
The office also has a strong corporate practice. It provides a comprehensive legal service to its corporate clients covering all aspects of their business – from company formation, acquisition and mergers to corporate governance and labor law.
MJB advises its clients on legal aspects of their business transactions, including drafting and negotiation of agreements in all areas of commercial law. We are contributors to International Agency and Distribution Agreements (LexisNexis).
MJB also provides advice in the field of real estate law and has assisted its clients in numerous real estate transactions, in all their phases: from negotiations to conveyancing.
MJB has extensive experience in providing legal advice in the field of media law, as well as entertainment law and advertising. This includes advising on all aspects of agreements in this area, including issues of copyright and personal rights.
MJB has a strong international law practice, not only in the field of international commercial transactions and conflict of laws, but also in the field of public international law. Attorneys from MJB have acted before international courts and tribunals, as well as in international commercial arbitrations.
The office still preserves general practice, including trials and appeals in civil and criminal cases, as well as probate and administrative proceedings. Last but not least, MJB is proud of its long-standing tradition of being involved in human rights cases where it has provided pro bono legal advice and representation before domestic authorities and courts, as well as the European Court of Human Rights.
MJB is proud of its international orientation, which stems from its service to transnational business clients and foreign embassies in Belgrade and involvement in international litigations and arbitrations. We advise our clients in Serbian, English, German and French.
